Will a Glass Chair Mat break?

Vitrazza offers the only Glass Chair Mat on the market that is both toughened for strength and sealed to resist scratches...it's our trademarked Tufver Glass!

Toughened glass is produced by heating ordinary annealed glass to a temperature of approximately 1,150ºF. The glass is then cooled by a carefully controlled airflow (known as quenching), which uniformly cools the entire surface simultaneously. The greater contraction of the inner layer during manufacturing induces compressive stresses in the surface of the glass balanced by tensile stresses in the body of the glass. For glass to be considered toughened, this compressive stress on the surface of the glass has a minimum of 10,000 psi.

When complete, this glass is four times stronger than ordinary annealed glass and it is distinctly suitable for use as an office chair mat / floor mat. It will withstand extreme weight, impact and deflection and that's why we include a 10-Year Warranty.

Here's what you really need to know... A Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat will not break from the typical impacts that can be expected in an office i.e. dropping a stapler, a coffee mug, a computer etc. In fact, it can be hit with a hammer and is very unlikely to break (don't do this for fun!). So what you get is an extraordinarily tough chair mat, that will never get dents or ruts and that looks much more stylish than vinyl or polycarbonate chair mats.
