About Tufver Glass

Vitrazza Glass Chair Mats are a compelling alternative to plastic mats because they're so durable and long lasting. We provide a written 10-Year Warranty, and we're confident they'll last even longer than that. Why are these Glass Chair Mats so strong? Because they're made from our trademarked Tufver Glass™.

Exceptionally Strong Glass

Tufver Glass is produced by heating annealed glass to a temperature of approximately 1,150ºF, then rapidly cooling it. The glass is cooled by a carefully controlled airflow (known as quenching), which uniformly cools the entire surface simultaneously. The heating and cooling cycle puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

The color, chemical composition and light transmission characteristics of Tufver Glass remain unchanged after the heat-treating process. The physical properties of glass, such as the compressive strength, hardness, specific gravity, the softening point, thermal conductivity, solar transmittance, stiffness and expansion coefficient, also remain unchanged.

Tufver Glass meets all safety glazing standards including the federal safety glazing standard, CPSC 16 CFR 1201.

Tufver Glass is distinctly suitable for use in applications that require extreme durability and impact resistance such as The Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat, the best office chair mat available on the market today. However, this special glass can be used anywhere strength requirements exceed the capabilities of annealed or even heat-strengthened glass, and for any safety glazing applications.

Tufver Glass should not be installed in areas where it is exposed to temperatures above 400°F because it will begin to revert back to annealed glass.
