The Safety Glazing Certification Council (SGCC), based in Sacketts Harbor, NY, maintains a certification program under which manufacturers of safety glazing products voluntarily submit their products for testing to an SGCC-approved independent testing laboratory. The testing procedures used in SGCC's program are consistent with those established in ANSI Z97.1, CPSC 16 CFR 1201 and CAN/CGSB 12.1.

Per The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), markings like “ANSI Z97.1-2015” and “American National Standard Z97.1-2015” denote compliance with testing requirements that assure the glazing materials used in buildings are safe. What is ANSI Z97.1? It’s the American National Standard for safety glazing materials used in buildings. It sets specifications and testing methods for the safety properties of safety glazing materials used for all building and architectural purposes. By prescribing the minimum safety performance characteristics of safety glazing materials, ANSI Z97.1 affords a basis for safety standards for adoption in regulations by federal, state, and local regulatory bodies, as well as for use by building code officials, architects, designers, specifiers and others as a reference standard.

Vitrazza sources our ANSI/SGCC certified tempered glass from FOUR suppliers. All custom designs are made in the US. Most in-stock sizes are sourced from one longstanding, trusted supplier in Fujian Province, China. Fill-in orders are sourced here in Colorado. All imported goods are marked accordingly.

The thickness of a Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat is 6mm, which is just shy of 1/4-inch.

Vitrazza Glass Chair Mats are offered in "Chiaro - Standard Clear" and "Luminoso - Low-Iron Ultra Clear" clarity options. Standard clear glass is clear, you can see right through it, but the iron content casts a subtle green undertone. Our Low-Iron Ultra Clear glass has the iron almost entirely removed giving it a brighter, optically clear aesthetic that's especially appealing on light colored floors and in high-end offices. Yes, absolutely! We asked an independent ergonomist to study the impact a Glass Chair Mat might have on human behavior and posture. The pilot study was the first time anyone had scientifically studied the effect different flooring types have on "bad" awkward postures and "good" mini-movement breaks. Water from shoes doesn’t pose a problem at all. We apply Invisible Shield® Pro15 Nano-Tech Coating to help resist fine scratches and it also reduces slipperiness. Water is attracted to glass and this attraction normally causes water to stick to glass and spread out. This would naturally create more ‘slip’ as the spread water comes between shoes and the glass. Our Nano-Tech Coating eliminates “spread”, forcing the water to bead instead.

We stock 20 sizes, all of which are made from our trademarked Tufver Glass(tm). We separate these into two collections only for ease of shopping. The Prima Collection™ contains our 8 most popular and least expensive sizes, all available on one page. The Moda Collection™ contains 12 sizes, divided by distinctive shapes; XL sizes are larger, Round sizes are, of course, round and Tab sizes have the traditional tab built into the front for those who need a portion of their mat to continue into a desk opening.

A ‘tab’ is the built-in section of some Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat designs that bumps out to fit into the opening of a traditional desk style (generally 24-30" wide with drawer pedestals on each side). A tab is intended to keep the chair wheels on the mat if/when a user works very close to the desk. Most customers find they don’t work that close to the desk and therefore will not roll off the front of a mat that doesn’t have a tab. Also, if your desk has an open area between two legs that would enable a square or rectangle Glass Chair Mat to be positioned partly underneath the front of the desk, the extra fabrication for the notched-out tab is not necessary – you can get the effect of a tab just by sliding the square/rectangle partly under the desk.

Yes! If one of our 20 in-stock won't fit your desk, we'll work with you to create a custom design from our Vista Collection™. To get the design and quote process started, you can send us any simple sketch or call to speak with a Vitrazza Specialist.

Vitrazza can accommodate custom sizes up to 29 square feet and up to 88” in length.

Generally, the smaller the custom design the more likely it is much more expensive than a similar in stock size. Medium-sized and larger mats are still a premium but not as great. Our in-stock sizes are imported and sourced in large quantities. Custom designs have no economies of scale and are sourced from a single specialty supplier in Denver.

Custom designs have a 2–3 week turnaround time for production/packaging, and then 3-5 days transit time depending on the shipping address.

Small and medium-sized Glass Chair Mats ship via FedEx Ground; there is no signature required and no appointment. The FedEx Ground driver will leave the carton at your front door or garage door like they would with any other package. 

Larger Glass Chair Mats ship via FedEx Priority Freight.  

• For residential freight delivery, the service includes a scheduled appointment and curbside delivery; the customer is expected to take the carton from there, so please have assistance available.  
• For commercial deliveries, the service includes dock or curbside delivery depending on availability. No appointment is made when delivering to a commercial location.

Yes. The treated side (top) is a bit smoother when you run your finger on it, whereas the untreated (bottom) is slightly more ‘dry’ feeling. Also, if you pour a very small amount of water on the top it will bead up, whereas if you do the same on the bottom the water will spread.

It shouldn’t! We include our exclusive Stabil-a-Dot™ Bumper System in your Care Pack. You get three sets of clear rubber bumpers to apply to the bottom of the mat, which help keep the mat in place. Yes! If you have beautiful hard floors in your office, you shouldn’t cover them up with cheap, dingy plastic mats. A Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat is clear, so it never distracts from hardwood, tile, or marble floor designs. And, to keep the mat properly in place, we include the Stabil-a-dot Bumper System in your Care Envelope. Stabil-a-Dots are clear rubber bumpers which adhere to the glass and provide traction against your floor.

If moving your Glass Chair Mat, DO NOT drag on hard surface flooring.

Yes! The Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat is an especially good chair mat for carpet in homes or offices with high-pile carpet since it is a firm, durable surface that won’t develop dents or ruts like a plastic mat. We also supply a Stabil-a-dot Bumper System designed specifically for use with high-pile carpet. Regular contact between the edges of two Glass Chair Mats is a concern for damage. If you need a solution to butt two mats together, we offer a clear, plastic H-channel connector to clip the mats together. The h-channel will protect the edges and provide a smooth ramp between the mats. See the photo below. When considering your purchase, we recommend the following:  If one user is going to move between two stations, one big mat will be preferable–it will be less expensive, and performance will be much better. If there are two users at two distinct workstations, we recommend a mat for each and not trying to butt the mats together.

If you’re interested in buying a strip of our clear plastic
H-channel, send us an email (support@vitrazza.com) and let us know what length you need, or fill out the form on the
H-Channel product page. We'll provide a quote. We highly recommend you measure the length to not include the full 3” radius corner. Like in the photo, it looks and works best if the h-channel just spans the straight edges.

This ‘Easy-lift’ tool is intended to slip under the edge of a Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat when you need to pick up a side or move the mat. DO NOT USE METAL TOOLS.

Most often yes, this will work by utilizing the varied sizes of Stabil-a-Dot Bumpers available in the Care Pack. Ideally, this should only be done where the height difference is minor.

Vitrazza Glass Chair Mats are exceptionally strong and very unlikely to break if handled with care. Use the Easy Lift Tool™ provided in your Care Envelope to slide under the mat and pull the mat up to stand it on edge (on carpet or a moving blanket). DO NOT use screwdrivers or metal tools. DO NOT drag on a hard surface floor.

Moving your Glass Chair Mat from one room to another: 

• Wear gloves, use two people to carry. Do not drag on a hard surface floor. 

Moving your Glass Chair Mat to a new location: 

• Wrap the mat with a moving blanket, tape to secure. 
• Use two people to carefully load into truck. 

Moving your Glass Chair Mat from carpet to hardwood: 

• Stand mat on edge on a towel, rug or moving blanket. 
• Install the Stabil-a-dots™ labeled for Hard Surface.

Not unless your wheels have metal tread, which is highly unusual. Most office chairs have either plastic or urethane tread on the wheels. Either will work on a Vitrazza Glass Chair Mat. Some customers find that casters with hard plastic tread are loud against the glass and don’t roll as smoothly as they’d like. Replacing those with Hubless Office Chair Wheels from Vitrazza, which have a urethane tread,is a great upgrade to the Glass Chair Mat experience.
